The Oregon Shakespeare Festival School Visit Program is at WAHS this week for the third year in a row! OSF actors work with students in acting workshops as well as in performances attended by English classes. West Albany invited OSF to visit the school in December of 2014, and were immediately invited to apply for the School Partnership Program, which provides professional development and curriculum for teachers and brings actors to the school for a week-long interaction with students. Partnership status was awarded to WAHS for the 2015-16 school year, and continues through this year and next. West Albany is thrilled to be able to provide this incredible experience for our students!
WAHS also conducts an overnight field trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland every spring for AP English classes. If students are interested in attending, please ask an AP English teacher for more information.
If your neighborhood needs a Little Free Library, you can purchase one from West Albany High School students later this month. The Little Free Libraries are constructed by students in Jeff Hawkins’ trades class and decorated by art students in Babette Grunwald’s art class.
Mr. Hawkins expects to charge $300 for a new, decorated structure. If you are interested, email him at jeff.hawkins@albany.k12.or.us.
