Expanded Options Program
Dear Parent:
Oregon’s Legislature enacted the Expanded Options Program to provide opportunities for eligible high school students to obtain college credit at post-secondary sites while still enrolled in high school. The Greater Albany Public School District recognizes both Oregon State University and Linn-Benton Community College as our higher education partners in this effort. You are receiving this letter because your high school student may be eligible for this option and might be interested in pursuing courses at the college level.
To see the details of this program, go to the GAPS district website, click on the Parents tab and then click on the “High School Expanded Options Program Information” link. Read the information very carefully and discuss this opportunity with your student. Please pay particular attention to the requirement of maintaining satisfactory academic progress at the post-secondary institution. If you would like a paper copy of this information, you can pick up a copy in West Albany Counseling Center.
If your student is interested in pursuing this option, your student must contact their counselor at 541-967-4573 prior to May 15, 2017. An appointment or phone conference with your student’s high school counselor will be scheduled to help you and your student understand the steps required to access this unique educational opportunity.
We are proud to have you as our educational partners and look forward to continuing to offer a solid academic program for Albany’s high school youth.
Sincerely,
Susie Orsborn
Principal
