To earn an Honors Diploma students are required to earn 24 credits, but must also meet the additional requirements listed below as part of their educational experience at West Albany High School. Honors diploma students are denoted in the graduation program, on the student’s transcript, and with an honor cord worn at commencement.

- English: at least one credit in an Advanced Placement (AP) or college prep course
- Mathematics: at least one credit at or above Algebra II
- An Advanced Placement (AP) class OR the fourth year of a World Language
- World Language: at least two credits
- Satisfactory completion of a college application as part of a Personal Education Plan
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
- Mastery of essential skills requirements
