Athletic Fees
No athletic fees for the 2025–26 school year.
Accident Insurance
Students in sports, Cheer, Hi-Steppers, clubs, or physical extracurriculars must carry personal medical/accident insurance. WAHS does not insure students for injuries.
Athletic Code of Conduct
Athletes must:
● Avoid drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and performance enhancers.
● Show respect for people and property.
● Follow the Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook.
Violations & Consequences
● 1st Offense: 30% season suspension; may require counseling clearance.
● 2nd Offense: 60% season suspension; mandatory counseling; return requires written recommendation.
● 3rd Offense: Full suspension from WAHS athletics/activities for remainder of high school career.
● Being present where substances are used = violation (unless you leave promptly).
● Self-reporting before an incident = no penalty.
● Policy active 24/7, all school year.
Attendance Requirements
To participate in events, students must:
● Attend all classes on the day of performance/contest.
Exceptions:
1. Participation in a school-sponsored activity.
2. A prearranged appointment, verified with a note from the provider.
Plus: Must maintain 80%+ attendance rate to stay eligible for athletics/activities.
Fan Behavior
Fans must:
● Respect opponents, officials, and rules.
● Show self-control; no taunting or booing.
Inappropriate behavior = removal from the event. Positive support is encouraged and appreciated.
Athletic Letter Awards
To earn a varsity letter, students must:
● Complete all sport-specific requirements.
● Receive head coach recommendation.
Physical Exams
Required for all athletes, Cheer, Hi-Steppers, and athletic clubs:
● Must be completed before participation.
● Valid for 2 years.
● Use the Participation Permit form (available on the website).
● Doctor’s clearance required after serious injury.
Team Rules
All athletes must follow coach-issued team rules.
Violations may result in temporary or permanent suspension.
